Proxmox VE is a Debian-family Linux distribution based on Debian Stable. Complete enterprise virtualization management platform combining KVM hypervisor and LXC containers.
Strengths: Best open-source bare-metal hypervisor; Intuitive web browser management interface; Full hardware PCIe passthrough for gaming VMs. Trade-offs: Headless server OS — not a desktop; Enterprise repository nag screen (can be disabled).
