Gentoo Linux is a Gentoo-family Linux distribution based on Independent. Total control and maximum performance through source compilation, USE flags, and Portage.
Strengths: Every single package is compiled specifically for your exact CPU architecture; USE flags let you strip out bloat you don't need (e.g. compile without bluetooth, pulseaudio, or telemetry); Deepest possible understanding of how Linux functions. Trade-offs: Compiling big packages (Chromium, Firefox, LibreOffice) can take hours or all day; Installation is entirely command-line from a chroot.
